Opportunity for Junior Lawyer: Mentorship, Exciting Work and Client Engagement Await

Are you a junior lawyer, looking to transition your skills into Banking and Corporate legal work? This could be an opportunity for a general practice lawyer to specialise in an area you feel passionate about, or a lawyer in Banking or Corporate to gain greater variety in work that you do. 

Our client, a city based firm is seeking a dynamic and eager individual to join their tight-knit team. This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced partners in a firm known for its supportive culture and client-focused approach.

The work will range from:
  • Banking and finance transactions - property financing, business financing, mezzanine lending etc
  • Financial Services advisory 
  • Regulatory advice e.g. around the CCCFA
  • Joint ventures
  • M&A deals
  • Advising on corporate structuring and shareholder arrangements
  • Commercial contract drafting and negotiations
Their clientele includes financial services providers, businesses, banks, specialist lenders, developers, and investors.

Work Environment:
  • There is no formal work-from-home policy, but flexibility is available for occasional needs.
  • Collaborative and supportive team with regular social activities like Friday drinks.

Role and Responsibilities:
 
As a junior lawyer, you will work predominantly with one of the senior partners, receiving one-on-one mentoring. You will engage in a variety of matters, gaining exposure to multiple areas of finance and corporate law while enjoying significant client contact and building strong professional relationships. This role will enable you to develop your skills with the goal of independently leading matters over time.

Ideal Candidate: 
  • NZ qualified and admitted lawyer with at least 1 years PQE (graduates will not be considered);
  • A decent academic background, though personal story and attitude are equally important.
  • Able to quickly grasp complex legal concepts and apply them practically.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • A team player who thrives in a close-knit environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop in a fast-paced environment.
