Job description

About the firm & opportunity

We are working with a specialist litigation practice, based in South Auckland, that is recruiting for an additional lawyer for its team. Working in a medium sized team, with a mix of seniors and juniors, the firm works on matters such as:
  • Treaty-related claims before the Maori Land Court and Waitangi Tribunal
  • Public law, human rights and policy matters
  • Resolving Foreshore and seabed related matters
  • Resource management issues and dealing with historical claims
It's an interesting area of work involving social justice issues and an opportunity to hone your legal research, drafting and advocacy skills in this field to effect positive changes in policy and law.

There is the ability to have a WFH day, so if the location is a consideration, the firm is fully supportive to provide a level of flexibility once you're settled in.

About you:
  • Completed your LLB, with good grades (B average or higher);
  • Completed your Professional Legal Studies and either already admitted to the bar (or near admission; and
  • A demonstrable interest in public law, Maori law and policy matters e.g. from papers you studied at university. Prior existing experience isn't needed but any work as a Law Clerk or in Litigation would be viewed favourably.
