Legal Counsel (Auckland/ Wellington) | 6 month FTC

About this role:

Due to an internal secondment, our client has a 6 month FTC role that has come up in its legal team, which can be based in either Auckland or Wellington. 

You will work as part of a close knit legal team providing advice to the business on risk mitigation and advice in relation to property legislation and issues. What is key is you'll be someone that can communicate confidently, both verbally and in writing with stakeholders. You may also work on a project delivering training sessions to internal stakeholders and help upskill them. You'll be supported by a senior lawyers in the team as needed as well. 

More broadly, you will strategically partner with internal stakeholders and business units to understand their commercial drivers and provide pragmatic, legally sound advice. It is therefore important that you can quickly build rapport and credibility with a wide range of people and understand the context in which you are working. The role involves plenty of interesting problem solving work and would suit someone who enjoys process improvement. 

The ideal candidate will have:
  • 3+ years PQE, ideally with some experience with property/ leasing dispute matters (whether gained in a law firm or in-house);
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a manner that is user friendly with the business; and
  • A self-starter that has good problem solving capabilities.
