The Business & Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a purpose driven business, achieving positive community outcomes by financing construction, housing and development projects which support those in need and help solve NZ's housing shortage. They operate with a loan book of about $500 million and the business has had a very successful year in 2025 and due to its growth in its transactions and work, they're keen to hire a junior or intermediate level banking and/or property lawyer to join the team.

Working alongside the GC & COO you'll provide support on financing transactions and internal company matters. You'll be joining a close-knit team where everyone is working towards a common purpose and in collaboration.  This is a team of down to earth individuals who are approachable and provide a collegial and supportive working environment.

The role is based in Central Auckland and there could be parking available. Decent bonuses are possible and have been paid to staff as well as a well-being allowance. 

The role is ideally full time, but the business would consider someone 4 days per week too. 
  
The Role:

You'll be working on transactions involving the major banks, crown entities and charitable institutions and those transactions can range from $1mill to $50mill (or higher) - day to day could involve:
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating loan facility and security agreements, primarily related to property, construction and development financing. You'll be supported by a top tier external provider on these matters based on capacity and complexity of deals too.
  • Dealing with refinancing matters, settlements and discharge of security interests.
  • Working effectively with the internal team of risk and credit to obtain the necessary information needed to progress matters. 
  • Internal company matters including resolutions, NDA, corporate governance, assisting with due diligence, reviewing leases etc
About You:
  • A NZ qualified lawyer;
  • 1.5+ years’ experience in either banking and finance law and/or property law;
  • An organised, team player that thrives in a dynamic working environment;
  • Ability to get stuck in, and work in a hands on role; and
  • Commercial nous.
