Job description

Join a leading and well-established national construction practice that does a mixture of commercial contracting work for projects as well as resolving construction issues. They have room to hire an mid-senior or senior level lawyer and the work will involve drafting and negotiating standard form construction contracts, working on contractual arrangements around residential developments, large-scale infrastructure projects, procurement contracts, tender arrangements, joint venture arrangements for projects and advising clients on risk mitigation strategy. The team is led by partners that are highly regarded in this field and, with a national team, they are involved in top work.

There is genuine scope for partnership progression in this role.

About you:
  • 5+ years solid PQE in construction and infrastructure (those that have gained relevant in-house experience are of interest also);
  • This role can be based in Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to advise strategically;
  • Experience gained in a reputable firm and/or relevant organisation; and
  • NZ qualified lawyer.
You may have reached a bottleneck in terms of progression and looking for a role with genuine growth to partnership. Or you may be someone returning from overseas having gained major projects and construction experience, looking to be a part of a team that does quality work upon your return. Likewise, this could be an opportunity to take your in-house legal skills back into private practice in a role that can offer some flexibility and a decent work/life balance overall.
