About the firm & opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to join a highly-ranked and leading construction & projects team led by experts in this field. Joining the team at an exciting time as they grow their energy practice as well as being involved in PPP's, major construction projects, joint ventures, procurement, energy supply arrangements and development work. You'll be acting on behalf of blue-chip corporate clients, government institutions and contractors. If you have an interest in playing a key part in delivering on complex projects, be it for large-scale transport and infrastructure matters, solar energy or high-value urban development projects, you will be well-placed in a team from which you can learn from.
 
The firm is well-regarded for its high-quality commercial, projects and construction work and promotes career growth based on merit. You'll have the support from partners and seniors in the team who have a depth of industry knowledge under their belt providing the chance to hone in on your skills in this area. It's a flat structured team so you'll have end to end involvement in files you're a part of. 
 
About you
  • 3+ years' PQE experience in front-end construction and/or general commercial law background. A commercial property background could be considered also. You may have a background in private practice or a relevant in-house legal role. 
  • An interest in building a legal career in commercial construction and major projects work;
  • A decent university academic record (B average or higher); and
  • Be commercially minded and enjoy project based work. 
This role would suit someone returning from overseas, foreign qualified lawyers with the right to work in NZ would be considered also. Likewise, it could suit someone form a general commercial legal background, keen to move into this practice area which is growing in NZ.
