Job description

One of New Zealand's leading commercial law firms with various locations across the north and south island are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their extremely busy and fast paced finance team. Located in the Auckland office this role offers a wide range of responsibilities whilst the leadership team encourages you to take ownership and autonomy of your duties.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Finance Manager as well as a dotted line to the Finance Director you will be in a team that has an extremely down to earth, and cheerful culture. This team works hard but enjoys what they are doing as the work is dynamic and exciting. You will be liaising with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis as well as:
  • Preparation of month end accounts, including updating the cashflow forecast
  • Preparing the annual expense budget as well as end of year financial statements
  • Processing 20th of the month payments
  • Supporting and assisting the AP and AR teams to ensure all accounts are reconciled for month end
  • Monitoring daily transactions as well as referring any trust-related transactions to the AML team as well as completing monthly reports
About You:
  • Ideally, you are currently an assistant accountant in a professional services environment, audit firm or looking to platform your current experience into a more complex and diverse role
  • Knowledge and understanding of AML or Trust related accountancy would be advantageous
  • Intermediate to an advanced operator in Excel as well as proficient in the ability to manipulate data within reporting formats
  • Strong attention to detail, with a methodic and systematic approach to your work
  • Able to build rapport with ease that is driven to exceed expectations
