Job description

The Firm & Opportunity

Based in Auckland CBD, this progressive firm has well-established networks across developer clients, high-net-worth individuals and commercial businesses with a focus on a few core areas of practice.

Due to combined growth and succession planning, they are now looking for a Senior Associate level Property lawyer who has the ambition of moving into partnership in the near future. Likewise, if you're an existing partner and think you'd like a better firm fit for you and your clients, this would be an opportunity worth enquiring about.

Day to day files relate to residential and commercial property transactions, commercial leasing, subdivision and property development, property financing matters, unit titles and related commercial legal work. Your technical skills will be a given, but what's more important is that you have leadership abilities and good interpersonal skills to effectively lead a team and help manage clients.

You'll have the experience of partners in complementary areas to ensure that clients needs can be serviced across the board and to consult with on matters too. The firm supports business development and marketing activities to assist you as you manage both existing relationships and cultivate new ones, with established systems and processes in place. They are also receptive to new ideas and improving how things are done as well as promoting diversity and inclusion. There are no hierarchies here, and the firm operates with transparency and collaboration.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • 8+ years legal experience with solid experience in commercial property or a mix of commercial, property and private client work gained within a NZ law firm;
  • An interest in developing your leadership skills and ability to mentor juniors;
  • Driven to build and manage new as well as existing relationships (while an existing client base is not essential in the role, it would be advantageous); and
  • Be a NZ qualified Lawyer.
