Job description

Our client is looking to hire an ambitious and driven Senior Solicitor level lawyer to be a part of its thriving employment law practice. Conveniently located in central Auckland, this long-standing firm has a reputation for providing top-quality legal advice in a number of practice areas and is structured to provide you with the perfect platform to progress your career. Led by friendly, collegial and well-regarded Partners, you will have the chance to work on complex and interesting matters with support and mentorship available to you.

In this role, you will have exposure to all aspects of contentious and advisory employment law matters, health and safety work (compliance and investigations) and the chance to do overflow regulatory, public law and civil litigation work too if any of those areas are of interest. Part of your role will see you involved in redundancies and restructure advice; PG claims around workplace bullying, harrassment, unfair dismissals and PG claims; health & safety compliance advice and investigations; drafting and advising on employment contracts and policies.

Your background will include some employment law experience, which may or may not form part of a broader litigation skill set that you have. This is an opportunity to be mentored and work with clients that have an employer side focus.

About You
  • 3+ years' PQE with experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house employment law role. Private practice experience is preferred;
  • A decent university academic record;
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; and
  • The ability to hold an NZ practising certificate.
If you’re in a larger firm and looking for greater file involvement or autonomy in running files (with partner support), then this could be a great option for you. Likewise, you might be doing more of a mix of litigation and employment law work in a smaller practice but are keen to move into a more specialised Employment Law and Health & Safety team where you can truly hone your skills while retaining work variety.

Kiwi's looking to return to NZ with relevant experience are of interest.
