Job description

About the opportunity

We're on the lookout for a driven senior level employment lawyer to be a part of our client's thriving specialist employment law practice. With offices across the North Island, they have a reputation for providing top-quality legal advice and is structured to provide you with an ideal platform to progress your career.

There will be plenty of variety of work in this role. You will have exposure to all aspects of contentious and advisory employment law matters (investigations, PG claims, large-scale restructures, holiday pay advice etc) and health and safety work (risk management and investigations). In this role you'll work mainly with employer and employee based clients - so there's good variety.

About You
  • 4+ years' PQE with experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house employment law role. Private practice experience is preferred;
  • You may have a mix of general litigation and employment law experience where you're now wanting to focus on employment law utilising your transferable skills;
  • A decent university academic record;
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; and
  • The ability to hold an NZ practising certificate.
This role would be suited to a senior employment lawyer that wants to be involved in quality employment law work, who can work with autonomy on files, but requires being based remotely. Likewise, if you’re in a larger firm and looking for greater file involvement or autonomy in running files (with partner support), then this could be a great option for you. Likewise, you might be doing more of a mix of litigation and employment law work in a smaller practice but are keen to move into a more specialised Employment Law and Health & Safety team where you can truly hone your skills.

Kiwi's looking to return to NZ with relevant experience are of interest.
