Job description

The Opportunity

An exciting position has just become available for an ambitious corporate and commercial lawyer who enjoys working in a transactions-focused team. Our client is a trusted advisor to international businesses, growing Kiwi organisations and high net-worth entrepreneurial clients. They advise clients through different stages of business growth, their mergers and acquisitions (which forms a good portion of the work), joint venture arrangements, shareholder agreements and capital raising matters. Clients span a diverse range of industry sectors and the firm benefits from a flatter structure with partners so you can have a good level of involvement in the work you do and the chance to contribute throughout the entirety of the deals you work on.

The Firm

Working with a Corporate Partner who has a top-tier background and harbouring an exemplary track record of deals, you'll have a unique opportunity to gain one on one mentoring on top-market deals. Given our client's astounding reputation in the NZ market, there is ample workflow of interesting transactions that the Partner is already working on and they anticipate more work to come through from overseas investors.

The Culture

The firm has a modern working culture where they provide decent flexibility in your day-to-day (which includes working from home). Their culture is conducive to ongoing training and development, encouraging business development and personal growth within and outside of the firm. There is definitely room for quick career progression if you show aptitude as the team is looking to grow and capitalise on the buoyant corporate market.

About you:
  • 5+ years PQE with solid Corporate legal experience;
  • Experience gained in a top-tier firm or highly regarded Corporate team where you've had some M&A experience would be ideal;
  • An interest in learning and continuing to grow your Corporate legal career under good mentorship;
  • NZ qualified; and
  • Good academics (B average or higher in your degree).
Perhaps you're wanting to move from a large firm/team structure to a flatter structured environment that is still well-supported by other lawyers in the team. Maybe you want access to larger-scale and more complex deals than you're getting now. Either way, get in contact with us to find out more about this position.

NZ qualified lawyers looking to return from overseas are encouraged to apply.
