RM & Regulatory / Litigation Lawyer | 2+ years PQE

Job description

The Firm & Opportunity
With strong networks in Tauranga, the firm has a steady and varied workflow, advising clients across New Zealand on resource management, regulatory prosecutions, local government, public law, and environmental law matters. They now have an opportunity for a junior to intermediate level lawyer with at least 2 years' experience to join their team.

In this role, you'll see yourself working on complex resource consenting and district planning matters, enforcement matters, judicial review proceedings, public law, RMA advisory work, projects, and Environment Court matters. You will also have exposure to general civil litigation work if you want too.

There are a few partners and senior lawyers in the team who are good court lawyers to learn from. It's a social, supportive and collaborative firm where you can easily make connections with those at a similar level. The firm genuinely values work life balance for its lawyers, without compromising on the quality and complexity of the work.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 2+ years' experience in resource management, regulatory, local government, environmental planning, and/or civil litigation work (those with in house experience, e.g. Council and Environment Court experience, will also be of interest);
  • Great interpersonal and client liaising skills;
  • A good working knowledge of the resource management legislative framework; and
  • Strong drafting and advocacy skills.
You may be looking to move from a major city to Tauranga for a lifestyle change, or be keen to a well established firm where there is room for progression and access to interesting and varied work that you are not quite getting at the moment.
