About the Position

Reporting into the General Counsel and working in a close-knit team, this is a diverse role that will see you carrying out work involving:

• Commercial contract drafting and negotiations, e.g. supply and distribution agreements, licensing agreements, T&Cs, sponsorship agreements etc;
• Corporate advisory and governance work, e.g. privacy related matters;
• Company structuring matters;
• Project based work, using your problem solving capabilities.

The successful candidate will quickly establish themselves in the role, work autonomously and take ownership of complex legal matters from day one. In particular, the candidate is proactive, demonstrates sound commercial judgement and is confident operating across a broad range of legal issues with a high degree of independence. You'd work with external law firms as required on matters that require specialist support and based on internal capacity too.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Ideally 5+ years' PQE as a NZ qualified lawyer with experience in contract drafting and negotiations and/or consumer law and regulatory work;
• An ability to take initiative and problem solve where required;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate in plain English, influence and guide internal and external stakeholders on commercial legal matters;
• A naturally commercial mindset with the ability to think strategically and pragmatically; and
• The ability to work well as part of a team environment.
