An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious lawyer with 3-6 years' PQE to join a highly regarded Canterbury legal practice working across environmental, planning, local government and litigation matters. This role offers the chance to work closely with experienced practitioners on complex and often high-profile matters, providing strategic advice and representation to local government and private sector clients throughout New Zealand.
 
About the role
You will be involved in a broad range of work including:

• Resource management and environmental law matters
• Local government advisory work
• Resource consent applications and appeals
• Mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes
• Appearing before councils, tribunals and courts

The role provides a unique opportunity to combine environmental and planning expertise with broader litigation and advisory work, creating a well-rounded and intellectually stimulating practice. Our client is open to scoping the role somewhat based on your interests and experience. 
 

About you
We are interested in hearing from lawyers who have developed a strong foundation in litigation, environmental law, planning law, local government law or related areas. You may currently be working in:

• A specialist environmental or resource management practice
• A litigation team
• A chambers environment
• A local government legal team
• A mid-sized or national firm with planning and regulatory expertise
