Job description

About the firm:

Make the move into a full-service firm that can provide mentorship and varied construction litigation work. With a longstanding history, the firm is looking to further grow its Construction law practice and hire an ambitious intermediate level lawyer who is keen for a new challenge and to get substantive involvement in the work they do.

In addition, the firm promotes diversity and inclusion, values work/life balance and provides flexibility where appropriate.

About the role:

In this role, you'd work closely with expert partners and seniors across the team. You’ll be mentored to develop your advocacy and dispute resolution skills particularly as they relate to project and contractual, contractor disputes, building defects claims, professional negligence and construction contracts act related arbitrations and adjudications. You’ll advise clients on risk mitigation and compliance strategy as well. The team operates with a relatively flat structure which provides the opportunity to have end to end exposure on disputes, working for both public and private sector organisations, body corporates, Principal clients and developers.

You will be provided with the right amount of support and autonomy to develop strong client relationships and hone in on and develop your technical skillet.

About you:
  • 2+ years solid PQE, with some litigation experience. Experience in construction is not needed provided you have litigation experience and an interest in this area.
  • Experience gained in a reputable firm and with sound drafting skills;
  • Driven to develop your advocacy skills and dispute resolution career; and
  • Eager to learn and grow your legal skills.
You may currently be in a team where you don’t feel you’re getting enough substantive involvement in disputes and files and would like greater hands on litigation experience, or you may be looking to join a litigation team where you can take greater ownership for your work with mentorship; likewise this could suit a litigator now keen to develop specialist skills in construction litigation.
