Job description

The Firm & Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Solicitor or Associate level litigator to fast track their career. With strong networks, the firm has a steady and varied workflow advising public and private sector clients on a broad range of matters. As a progressive workplace, the firm operates with modern systems (mostly paperless), with the ability for staff to work partially remotely and flexibly, providing health and well-being allowances and have an emphasis on doing work to a high standard without the need to work extensive hours.

Joining a team of specialist litigators, you'll work closely with a partner and a team of three lawyers where the core part of your role will involve civil litigation work within a local government context and some regulatory work too. The team does work for clients up and down the country and are dedicated to up-skilling staff through structured training programs. The firm operates with a flat structure giving you the ability to have court exposure and hands on work with client relationship management.

About you:
  • 3+ years' PQE in litigation (civil litigation experience is needed and it would be preferred if you had some existing experience with Council related litigation work too);
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to cut through issues and problem solve;
  • A good academic record; and
  • Experience gained in a reputable firm or local government department within litigation.
You may be working in a local government litigation role and be looking to further diversify your experience in civil litigation with a specialist team, or perhaps you are wanting mentorship and access to larger-scale and more complex dealings than you are getting now. Either way, get in contact with us to find out more about this position.

For a confidential chat, contact Anand Ranchhod on 027 2746 186 or by sending your CV and academic transcript to anand@colegal.co.nz or by clicking on 'APPLY' now.
